Arctic Region - Russia staking claim to the arctic circle. International law stipulates that the arctic circle areas within 200 miles of a countries coast can be claimed as theirs. Well the US does not want Russia to control the whole region of the artic. Russia is now land its largest planes in the Artic placing them within 160 miles of NATO & 200 miles of any ship in the ocean. Planes that they are able to land are similar to our B52 bombers. So Russias rhetoric is 1. Strong military presence, 2. Dominating the Sea routes around the Artic, 3 Collecting minerals, oil, and gas from the area.
Central Africa- the Democratic Republic of the Congo there was a volcanic eruption this past week, with the flow of lava subsiding on Sunday. The last time the volcano erupted was in 2002. This time is took out 600 homes, 5 schools, and some death. Goma was the nearest populated city in the area.
Maasai Mara National Reserve - Kenya - Lost 80% of the countries revenue was through tourism. Tourism came to a halt with the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, poaching has taken place. Park rangers are making flyovers to count the animal population.
