Work on the HHS Farm has begun Again!!!!!

In week 2 of the 4th quarter, work has begun on the HHS Farm after over a year layoff with the Coronavirus Pandemic. This week we began work creating some new raised planters in the old pumpkin area of the garden. With no students and a limited amount of district maintenance workers during the pandemic, lawn work was not getting done in a timely manner. As a result, weeds were able to grow and deposit their seeds. Lots of weeds grew in the garden.

Interesting Week....Back to school with students in class and online

This method of teaching actually slowed me down. Now, with that said, it may have given students a chance to absorb what they were learning.  And with that said, I am trying the following next week. I have asked students that want to stay online, to show up in the afternoons, and those that want to attend online, to show up in the mornings. This may become a school-wide policy.  As a school, we averaged about 15 students at school per session with the rest online approx. 60 per session.

My goal for this change is to teach offline with students out in the garden/farm and on the construction projects that were placed on hold when the coronavirus pandemic began over a year ago.  This will also allow any student that needs extra credit a chance to take both the AM class and PM class.

Welcome Back! 4th Quarter Begins April 6

We begin the 4th Quarter of the 2021 School year on Tuesday, April 6th. I hope everyone had a relaxing break from school.

I had an opportunity to visit with my wife's parents in Lake Tahoe.  I spent most days walking down to a bridge that was over a stream. In that stream were beaver dams. Unfortunately, they are nocturnal so I did not get to see any beavers in action. We were visited by some ducks and a blue jay.
